Whether working on an individual project, or part of a large production team, creating a budget is always an important step to take. Budgeting allows project leaders to see how much money is available for their project/their area of the project and is then able to plan what resources are available and what can be booked/purchased.

Budgeting helps to ensure the project leader does not spend money they do not have while also planning out the project aims and goals (Bell, 2021).

Some resources to be considered when budget planning include;

  • Locations (Will the location be free? Or does the location require a booking?)

  • Photographer/videographer (Are either of these required? What will be their fee?)

  • Model fees (Will models take part voluntarily or will they be paid?)

  • Make-up artist/Hair stylist (Will they take part as work experience or will they be paid?)

  • Prosthetics artist (Cost of prosthetics/will pieces be commissioned specifically for this project?)

For the student's own project, the main fees will be the cost of producing silicone prosthetics from scratch. This includes many different steps and many different materials. To properly plan for this, a table of costs has been created.

Looking at this table, it is easy to see the minimum amount needed to get started on this project. The artist can then plan any other costs needed from here.
